In our continuous commitment to serving our community, we’ve observed a rising need for direct financial assistance among local residents and their families navigating the challenges of cancer treatments. Understanding the importance of this support, our committee is proud to announce that a dedicated portion of our auction proceeds will now directly benefit these individuals through our new initiative, WACA Direct.
Starting from the 2024 auction onwards, we’ll be channeling a designated amount of our collective efforts, under the banner of WACA Direct, to make a positive impact in the lives of local individuals affected by cancer.
August 2025: We are thrilled to update that this year with WACA Direct, we were able to assist 16 Franklin County residents with a gift of over $800 each. We have received many joyously tear filled messages and letters from those receiving these funds letting us know the impact this program has had on their lives. The committee is only the conduit to making this happen. The gift is only possible thanks to every single auction volunteer, donor and/or supporter. Thank you for making a difference in your neighbor's lives.
️August 2024: We are proud to announce that through the WACA Direct program we were able to provide financial assistance to 17 different individuals in Franklin County.
All 17 of our applicants had undergone cancer treatment within the last year. Through the funds allocated from the 2024 auction we were able to send each recipient $770 to be used towards whatever needs they might have.
As an organization we acknowledge the financial burden that cancer causes and we are honored to be able to come alongside of these individuals and remind them that they are not alone in their fight.
We look forward to seeing this program grow over the years to come and appreciate the support we receive from our community in order to make this program possible.
Meet Stephanie
A local mom, wife, and fighter — and one of last year’s WACA Direct recipients.
Stephanie was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma in December 2023 at just 36 years old. Since then, she’s bravely faced multiple rounds of inpatient chemo, radiation, and surgeries — all while raising her daughters, Natalie and Isla, with her husband Brian right here in Waynesboro.
Thanks to your support of the Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction, WACA Direct was able to help ease just one piece of her journey: the cost of driving back and forth to Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute for treatment — sometimes multiple times a week.
In Stephanie’s words:
“Your generosity and support is truly commendable and is a blessing to many local cancer organizations, patients, and their families. I’m very proud of my hometown for executing this amazing event for 43 years. Keep up the hard work!”
